Comcast Box Fan Noise

Comcast Box Fan Noise. Why is my cable box making loud noise? These units are leased from comcast to shaw (from what shaw rep tells me) anyway these units are fire hazards.

In reading through the forum it seems like this is an older box and that a newer/upgraded one solves this issue? Are there other alternatives to fix this? If the box is going to produce more noise i'd rather stick with the old 1080p one (there's not much of 4k content advantage atm anyways).

My mother in laws comcast receiver went to pot the other day so i disconnected it and drove through heavy traffic to the comcast service center. Verify that you are using the correct tv audio input.

They were designed in a rush and have very poor cooling and are very inefficient. I'm on the jersey shore so the line at the center was about 45 minutes long due.
